Sometimes, as I grow in my walk with Christ I come to points of condemnation. I look at my life and see sin and more sin and think to myself, "am I just getting worse everyday!?" But I believe that this is not the case. The Lord revealed to my heart that He is simply uncovering and revealing deeper sins that I had no clue where in my heart. And that I should see the bringing out of my sin in some respects a maturing process. Does this make sense? Though bad things come from within my members, Christ is at work. And though the deeper I go into Christ the more I see my sin, Christ is in fact changing and working on my heart!!! Thus the very fact that I see my sin all the more is an evidence that God is at work.
Any thoughts?

Yeah I agree. The closer you get to God the more that the sins of this world become clearer to you. Like you said you start seeing the sins that you commited that your eyes were not able to notice till God shown them to you. It's like you are not looking through your own eyes but through God's and you see things clearer and more in the way God sees things.

Insightful, Dave. It is true that as we grow, we will be more sensitive to sin. The message at Covenant Life today was about leagalism. The basic point was that whe can't do it all right! We can try and try and try, but when it comes down to it, at the end of the day, we are in of ourselves, sinners. We naturally strive for a standard (whatever it may be), and we naturally fail. It is human nature. So when it comes to sin in our lives we need to use it as a reminder of the cross, and how the sin has been payed for and its penalty is completely paid. Grace has come to reign forever.
When we constantly look to God, we will be filled with him, therefore leaving no room for sin. Like a light in an empty room, darkness has nowhere to hide.

I agree with what you said about "new" sin that has probably been there all along and we just haven't seen it. I think that's a big part of our growth as Christians, because it's only when we acknowledge the sin that we can deal with it. Isn't it one on Satan's tactics to tell us that we're doing alright; that we're already pretty righteous as we are, so why look for more ways to grow.
I also like the point about it drawing us closer to Christ. The more we discover how terrible our sinful natures are, the more we understand what He really had to go through, and why. What a convicting way to bring us to thankfulness and praise!

I totally agree. If we didn't see our sins, we wouldn't work harder to please God in attempting to not do them.

Good topic!
At the core of every human being lies a wicked, sinful heart in rebellion against God. As we continue our walk with the Lord, we become more aware of our sinful hearts.
Whether or not we are aware of it, it's still there! But the difference is that, as Christians, God has given us the grace to see our sin for what it is--offensive to Him. If we truly love what God loves and hate what He hates, then that sin becomes offensive to us.
So, this is no reason to condemn our selves; it is a daily opportunity to be broken before the Lord and to stand in awe and joy in the fact that He has saved our souls and the He delights to see us grow! More reason to rejoice--we have the only One Who can change our sinful hearts in our hearts!
Therefore, with joy may we take this awareness of our sin deeper to growth (see James 1:21-25), and realize that His Word does not allow us to condemn ourselves, for His blood has paid the price so that we might live in freedom and growth (see Galatians 5:1,13)!
"There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh...." ~Romans 8:1-3
God bless you all, Franz
