CHRISTIANS STILL DIE.
I have been very encouraged and amazed by the examples of our brothers and sisters in Christ have given and still give their very lives for the sake of the gospel. How selfish I have become along with this very ME centered society! The Lord has so convicted me lately to stop the selfishness and pride and share the gospel. For the word says:
Matthew 10:27-28 (ESV) What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. [28] And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
- Read the rest of this passage, it's pretty encouraging.
I would like to post a few stories here of martyrs, past and present. You may be surprised to hear what is happening to the church abroad.
I also hope people will post any evangelism opportunities they may have had. Not sharing to draw attention to themselves but only to encourage us all to continue to grow in this area.
And lastly I believe that in order to follow the command:
Hebrews 13:3 (ESV) Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.
We must hear what is actually happening.

Awesome topic!
I've been getting together weekly with some close friends for the purpose of praying for the global Church. All of us have different connections that make it easy to find specific things and people to pray for. A big area recently has been Sudan, because of the terrible things happening to Christians there. We also pray for Rwanda, China, Mexico, India, and Indonesia because we know missionaries there.
I think it's important to lift up the Church in America also. More because we're NOT being persecuted than because we are, and that may be a reason many are not thriving and reaching out like they should. We're extremely priviledged in this country, and you're right, we must open our eyes to what Christians in the rest of the world are suffering for the sake of Christ. We can use our freedom and relative wealth to rescue them, and we can also be inspired by their courage.
I don't have any martyr stories, but I could share very sad stories from friends who have gone on mission trips about the pathetic conditions of areas that haven't been shown the love of Christ.
